Bringing Old Cars Into the Future With New Technology
We love it when worlds collide, where the past and the future can harmoniously work together to make the present amazing. Samsung is coming out with a nifty little item called the ConnectAuto. The ConnectAuto will bring a new era of driving experience to the more general public.
the Samsung ConnectAuto will plug directly into the OBD II port underneath the steering wheel. Since 1996, it was mandated that the OBD II CANbus be installed in all cars going forward. The best part of the ConnectAuto is its amazing features. Some of the features it has is a find my car app that lets you find your vehicle using your cellular or GPS network. It will also read out the reason and code if your check engine light does come on. The most important feature though, which may attract most of its user base, is the WiFi hotspot that connects to At&T’s network. This will allow users who have older model cars be able to utilize the new feature like car based internet access that was once only accessible to new models that many users find amazing. All the features, from WiFi to vehicle maintenance, to vehicle location is just the start of what this product can do. The cost for the monthly service has not yet to be determined so that may be something you should look at and see if it is worth it for all that ConnectAuto offers.
The ConnectAuto has not been released yet; it will go on sale during the second quarter of this year. We feel this is just the start of new items and services that will usher older vehicles into more of the modern age. Individuals and families will want the latest technology, but may not want to give up on their older year vehicles. It is only a matter of time before these dongles and other items continue to push the envelope in what our vehicles can do for us in the future. What do you think about the Samsung ConnectAuto?
